At the core of the SD:SPUR communication activities is a system of electronic consultation on draft documents. The multi-stakeholder project steering group (PSG) play a central role in the operation of this system by providing initial comment on drafts of the guidance and by providing details of their contacts and constituents who form the basis of a wider consultative group (200+ contacts). This group are offered the opportunity to comment on drafts of the developing guidance.
A summary of the consultative process can be viewed by clicking here.
There are currently no active consultations being delivered through the SD:SPUR learning network. However, if you would like to be involved in future consultations on developing SD:SPUR guidance, please provide your details here.
Key principles for the SD:SPUR Learning NetworkThe PSG have requested that SD:SPUR key principles be developed for the management of decommissioning wastes and items. In agreeing the key principles it will be important to involve a broad range of stakeholders. This will ensure 'buy-in' to the SD:SPUR approach going forward. During the 2006-07 financial year, a set of draft key principles will be developed by a drafting group (subset of the PSG). The plan is for these to be made available for wider consultation during the 2007-08 financial year. Click here for further details on the work that has been undertaken to date. 23 May 2007 |

Options comparison paperThe PSG have requested that a paper be produced that identifies and sorts information on the range of options and techniques available for the management of decommissioning wastes and items. This is currently under development. Click here to view the draft specification for this paper. At this stage the output will be limited in its circulation to the PSG. The report will be used to inform the future work of the SD:SPUR Learning Network. 23 May 2007 |

All the comments (non-attributed) submitted by the wider consultative group are available from the project consultation log through this link. July 2004 - October 2005 |
Good practice tools (including practical flow diagrams)The SD:SPUR Learning Network has produced an information paper on a number of good practice tools that are available in the UK to assist in the development of strategies, plans and procedures for managing decommissioning wastes. The paper includes flow diagrams showing the key stages of asset and waste management. To download the final paper please click here. Information on the work that was undertaken to produce the paper is available through the project consultation log. 22 May 2007 |

This work was taken forward during the 2006-07 financial year programme. Consultation on the development of this information paper was limited to PSG members, regulators and government departments.
